Question
Despite that you may be unable to answer my q i decided to make a try. What i am trying to learn is the minimum amount of money that is needed to invest in alternative  energy.
I am talking about a business investment.
Do you know any examples.I am not speaking about the kind of investment giants like BP or Shell can do.
A decent start-up venture is what i have in mind.
Just give me a clue that will help me to get an idea.
If you need clarifications ask.

Answer
I have heard of solar panels for a generating sufficient energy to run a single household. It was estimated at $18000 for a single family energy use/consumption.  That did not sound unreasonable.  That was 2 years ago.  The only issue was the amount of space required to set up the panels.
