Question
A few years ago our family in Wisconsin Leased a portion of our minerals to Sundance. Sundance told us our lease was sold to another company. Where can we get some information about who holds the lease. I have moved since the lease was signed and have no way to let any ony know my new address. The Minerals are in Williams County 156, 101 and section 8

Answer
Hello Dennis.  Sundance should have told you the name of the company to whom the lease was assigned.  Do you know if the lease is still even in effect?  The primary term of the lease may have run since the lease was several years old.

Anyway, the best way to kind out the current situation with your property is to hire someone to search the deed records in the county, or to do it yoursself.  There may be online record seach capabilities if the county is big enough so a search for that would be worth your time.  Websites likehttps://tapestry.fidlar.com/Tapestry2/Search.aspx are useful in seaching but ZI don't know if this covers your county.

The Wisconsin Deed Registrars Association contains also contains helpful information about title searches and has a list of counties online.

A good title company, landman or attorney should be able to get you what you need and this is what I would recommend.

Good luck and let me know if you have any further  questions.
