A gallon of oil always yields 140,000Btu's, unlike natural gas, which varies depending on the demand and temperature. Typically 112,000 per therm at 40 degrees. Below 40 you can expect to yield way less 80,000. In almost every case oil heat is FAR less expensive than Natural Gas.
