English Culture - How to Pronounce

Expert: Michael FitzGerald - 9/15/2007

Question
I have listen people saying 'Of Course' as 'af courcs'. Is is really pronounce as 'af' or is it 'of'? Please tell me according to both american and british?

Answer
Dear Anmol

People in languages the world over often mispronounce words. There is no justifiable basis in eithe British or American English for pronouncing 'of course' as 'af courcs.' It is doubly inappropriate because it inserts an entirely fictitious syllable 'c' in the second word.
