Question
Hello!

I would like to know whether the following questions are correct:

Question 1: What does your father like?
Answer: He is imaginative and decisive.

Question 2: How does your father look (like)?
Answer: He is tall and thin.

Thanks & best regards,
Antoine Ghannoum

Answer
Hello Antoine,

thank you for your question. It's been a while since I last heard from you :)

The only thing that is not right in the 2 question and answer sets you've inquired about is the first question. It should read: "What IS your father like?" I assume you're asking about that person's abilities, personality or attributes.

If you say "What does your father like?" you're actually asking about the things that person enjoys/likes, so an appropriate answer would be: "He likes popcorn" or "He likes sports cars." etc.

Also, the second question should contain the word "like", it's not optional.

I hope this helps.

Best,
