Question
Hi Amy.
Thanks for your help.
Whould you please just give me a synonym for "eventual retrospect" in here:

she may very well emerge in eventual retrospect as the single most important American artist of the 80s

I guess: finally or after all. Is it true? What about retrospect?

Answer
Hello Azad,

In retrospect means in hindsight.

Here are some alternatives to your sentence:

After all she may very well emerge as the single most important American artist of the 80's.

Eventually she may very well emerge as the single most important American artist of the 80's.

It's possible that she will emerge as the single most important American artist of the 80's.

In hindsight, she may very well emerge as the single most important American artist of the 80's.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,
