Question
I took a picture of this bug. I think it is the second one I have killed. The first got sucked up by the vaccum and was on the window so did not get a good look at it. The picture I got was not even week later and this bug crawling on ceiling/wall thought it was going to fall few times. Took picture now nervous if we have more. I have a 1yr old and a 2yr old so I want to make sure these bugs are not dangerous or harmful. I am not a fan of bugs so anything you can help me with to make sure I am not seeing them in the future I would love. I would describe the bug to you but I will just send you the picture. Thank you!
Answer There are many beetles that look a lot alike. Without knowing your geographic location and seeing a more-detailed photo of the beetle, I can't identify it. Please try to get a better picture and post it, along with your geographic location.
The vast majority of beetles are totally harmless to people. There are a few (generally called assassin bugs or kissing bugs) that bite people and can carry disease. If you can't get a better photo, google "assasin bug" or "kissing bug" to see photos of the many different types. They generally live in humid tropical or hot areas.
