Question
Hi, I am having a problem with some kind of spider, insect, or mite and I was hoping for some direction, the internet is of no help on this subject.  I am being bitten ALL over my body by something especially my inner thighs, between my arms and body, and my arms.  These bites look and feel like mosquito bites, they itch and continue to itch, even after they scab over.  I thought mosquitos were flying into my window, but then I saw these tiny little thing crawling.  They are BARELY visible, too small to get a photo of, I can't see any legs or anything all I can see is that they are gray and moving they are smaller than a . on this screen.  My husband thought I was seeing things until he saw one too.  They are not just in bed, they are on clothes, blankets etc.  We went on vacation and all the bites healed.  I was going to call an exterminator, but I am afraid to waste my money because you can hardly see them, and I don't want them to think I am crazy.  My doctor says they are flea bites.  My dogs do not have fleas, they have treatments from the vet, no eggs, no live fleas.  These bugs are not biting them.  Everything I see says bed bugs, but bed bugs are big and visible, these are so little, you can barely see them, please help me! I itch everywhere!! Thank you

Answer
Hi Lori: I have a problem here because this has become a medical problem.  Finding an insect will not solve the problem and without seeing an insect I cannot tell you what is doing it.  I am not am MD and cannot second guess your doctor and he should be able to recognize flea bites.  Fleas however and not tiny crawling bugs an bed bugs are easily seen.  Ask your doctor for a referral to a dermatologist to be sure this problem is insect related and not an allergic reaction. You are correct in not hiring an exterminator. Most of them cannot tell a flea from any other bug
