Entomology (Study of Bugs)/Bug ID

I'm hoping you can help me identify this insect. I found it on a clean sheet that I had set on the floor near my bed. I just moved in to this residence and I fear that it might have a bed bug problem. Can you tell me whether or not this is a bed bug, and if not, what it is? Thank you!

Dear David - I cannot be certain from your images, but the insect just could be a bed bug. I suggest that you look at the publication on bed bugs found at http://tinyurl.com/5l5y95 to see if that will help. It is about the best pub on bed bugs that I have come across.

Hope this helps,

Will accept most questions in general entomology, including those related to medical entomology, taxonomy, ecology, arthropod surveillance, and pest management. If you are requesting a 'mystery bug' identification, PLEASE either attach an image to your question, or post an image on a web page (such as Flickr) so that I can look at it, as verbal descriptions frequently are insufficient for a definitive identification.
