Entomology (Study of Bugs)/cocoons in underside of exterior door

I just opened a door in an upstairs bedroom, that opens onto a garage roof.

After opening,a pile of what looks like dirt was on the carpet.

On closer inspection there were three cocoons in the dirt/sawdust.

What are they and how do I get rid of them?

Thank you.

Since I cannot see the cocoons I cannot tell you what insect is involved John. But whatever insect left them it is gone so I would simply discard them. They could be from moths. Another thing you can do is send me a photo of them and then put them in a closed container and see what hatches
