Question
Re: destroying insect invaders in the home.

One is concerned that crushing an insect may release pheromones
that attract its fellows.  If this is so, can you please name
some common insects that have this trait.

Thank you so much for your generosity.

Dale

Answer
Dear Dale,

Virtually every insect - in fact every animal - rely pheromones for a variety of reasons. The most common household "pests" which have rely heavily on pheromones are ants. However, and I do not advocate it, crushing an insect may not necessarily attract other of its kind unless that insect is social - such as ants and termites.
