Question
death moth poss.
death moth poss.
Hi,
I found this moth and recognized the skull head from the movies.  However, i thought they were from Asia and not sure as to why it would be here in Arizona.  And is there anything for me to worry about.  I dont want to harm the moth if it is friendly but i dont want a dangerous insect sitting above my head.  Your assistance is appreciated.

Answer
In real life, there are no dangerous moths.  Moths can't hurt people, unless you eat too many of them.  Don't worry about this harmless moth.  It's one of many types that look like tree bark so they can sit on the trunk of a tree and birds won't spot them and snack on them.
