Entomology (Study of Bugs)/Real insects magazine

Dear Mr Eaton,
i have a petition against real insects encased in resin sold via a magazine.I wondered what you thought about this issue? My petition is on care2.com. " Real insects encased "etc.
I know it is a big trade area and includes key fobs.
Yours sincerely, Ali, UK.

I think this is more or less a non-issue.  Most, if not all, the species I've seen encased in resin are common, and for all I know they are reared in a facility somewhere for commercial purposes.

The real issues include habitat destruction, road-killed specimens, widespread pesticide use, and invasive species that have a negative impact on native species.

That said, I would not endorse commercial exploitation of insects and arachnids, especially any enterprise that merely perpetuates public fear and loathing of arthropods.
