Insect
Insect
Hi,

I found this, what I suspect is larvae of some sort, on my passion fruit vine. I'm wondering, if it will develop in some type of beetle? Can you tell from the picture, what it is?

Thank you,

Nicole

Answer
Hello Nicole,

The photo is of a green lacewing larva. The adult will look similar to this: http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/C/I-NR-CCAR-AD.008.html Have you seen adult lacewings in your garden? The lacewing larva eats smaller insects, such as whiteflies and aphids. Thank you for the very clear photograph.

Best,
Jessica
