Entomology (Study of Bugs)/What is this

Question
My husband and I walked outside after a nice rain.  We looked on our threshold of our door.  It looked like bluish grey chalk dust.  As we got closer it was moving. It seems like it was a whole bunch of tiny little bugs moving.

Answer
Tracy,

These were likely collembola, see http://www.livingwithbugs.com/springtails.html for images. These tiny insects often congregate following heavy rains (see page cited above). They are completely harmless. If you post a picture I could confirm.
