Entomology (Study of Bugs)/Identify this bug

Ugly Bug
What is this bug.  Northern Indiana, night time, crawled.  The attached image is on a golf cart tire.  Not sure if it is upside down or not!

Hi, Brenda:

Well, hopefully the *golf cart* is not upside down, that would be bad.  LOL!

The insect is something called the "Saddleback Caterpillar," Acharia stimulea .  Here's more:

NOTE:  This caterpillar is studded with venomous spines!  Do NOT touch these caterpillars or you will get stung (painfully, too).

I am a little envious.  I have never seen one of these alive "in the wild."
