hi walter,

Have started to see a few of these big spiders in my back yard. They also spin some really big webs. Any idea what kind of spider it is and any info on them. Thanks

Answer
 Hi Nick
This one of the common Orb Weavers, most likely from the Genus Araneus. They are great insect eaters and quite harmless. I have them all over my deck and in the  side mirrors of my car. their webs are remarkable. If you wish to find out more about them google Araneus
