Please google Lyme Busters.  It's been acknowledged from what you are expressing as your wife's symptoms, CDC and Mayo Clinc are researching with a team of scientists this phenomenon.  At Lyme Busters, you'll see...there are over 10,000 households registered and many many more sites, talking about being infected/contaminted with the same exact thing you're talking about.

We call this Morgellons.  And CDC (USA's Center for Disease Control) calls this Dermopathy aka (also known as Morgellons)

No one to date has been able to figure this out!  The how we got it, or even what to do, and in the meantime, this is spreading like wildfire.  This ALSO is not confined to the USA, it's global!

Insects of all kinds, "not normally indicative of living in human tissue, along with Agrobacterium which is used in our nations pesticides has been 100% confirmed from biopsies" from people JUST LIKE YOU and ME.

I go by Toni, and I'm an advocate for getting news teams aware of this, newpapers, and our pathetic elected officials to try cause this horrendous SECRET to be out into the public!

Something is going on.

Look up Morgellons if you want to know what these new bites and odd things happening are with your body, that NO doctors in America can identify yet.  CDC (Center for Disease Control) STILL cannot figure it out.

I ALSO HAVE THESE TINY SHRIMP SHAPED BUGS THAT COME OUT OF MY SKIN, LEAVING TINY C SHAPED SCARS MAINLY ON MY FOREARMS & SHINS. I'VE HAD THIS SINCE DEC. 2007 & HAVE SEEN 5 DOCTORS. I HAD ONE OF THE SORES CUT OUT OF MY LEG LAST WEEK TO BE BIOPSIED, BUT NO WORD YET. THE ONLY THING THAT HAS HELPED IS A MED CALLED STROMECTOL. I TOOK 4 LITTLE PILLS & WITHIN 2 DAYS ALL MY SORES WERE DRYING UP. UNFORTUNATELY, ABOUT A WEEK LATER, THEY STARTED SHOWING UP AGAIN. OBVIOUSLY NEWLY HATCHED BUT I COULDN'T CONVINCE THE DOCTOR TO GIVE ME A SECOND DOSE BECAUSE HE FELT IT WAS TOO STRONG TO TAKE AGAIN??? THESE THINGS HAVE HELPED WITH SYMPTOMS A LITTLE: A CAPFUL OF CHLORINE (LIKE FOR HOT TUB USE) IN THE BATH, GET A COUPLE OF SPRAY BOTTLES & MAKE A PEROXIDE/WATER SPRAY FOR AFTER THE SHOWER & SALT WATER SPRAYER, USE SULFUR SOAP & SULFUR CREME. IF THERES A LONG WAIT FOR THE DOCS OFFICE GO TO AN URGENT CARE, ITS USUALLY THE SAME COPAY.TONIGHT I'M GOING TO TRY OVER THE COUNTER PINWORM MEDICINE, WISH US LUCK. REGISTER WITH THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL.LET THEM KNOW WHERE THESE THINGS COME OUT, MINE ARE ALWAYS NEAR A VEIN. I THINK ITS A VASCULAR PARASITE. I'LL GET BACK TO YOU SOON. KEEP FIGHTING IT! Hi,

the same happens to my mom. Some doctors say that it is the problem of tyroids. It could be the problem of your wife too.

I am having the same problem, we had to move to another apartment, all was good until we decided to bring our computers from the storage place that we had them since we moved, the problem started again! No one cares to help and said it is just some kind of parasitic allusination, really, all was good until we took an item from the storage to the house which was at the other apartment, all furnutire etc was disposed except the computers. 4 months no problem, 3 weeks after the computers been in the new apartment the infestation started again

I wanted to add that I also am plagued with some sort of insect inside me.  It is most definitely a positive that spiders can live under the skin of humans...they can also cause havoc to the body...I know exactly how the spiders do their work...it's amazing when I think about it yet creepy because they are inside me....I wish I could find a doctor with an open mind willing to take me on as a patient to find out exactly what is lurking inside me...help!

I'm sorry, but IMHO, you all appear to be delusional. The only arthropods that habitually live in or under human skin are scabies mites, follicle mites (both too small to see with the naked eye) and certain tropical fly larvae (I deliberately exclude well-known ectoparasites such as ticks, fleas, lice, biting mites, etc. as these do not actually burrow into skin). There certainly are absolutely no, repeat, no, spiders that ever have been known to 'infest' humans in any regard. Also, there is absolutely no reason to suspect any cover-up of any mysterious/unknown parasitic organism. If anything resembling what you report actually existed, it would be in the medical literature. Most doctors would welcome having some newly recognized syndrome named after them, and not try to hide it.

Since all this was written back in 2010 *my post/comment*, lots has happened since.

More people have died, because no one was or is listening, and more people have become infected with (no one yet knows the etiology is)of what is termed (Morgellons).

Latest findings, (the proof) now exists, the new reports from the Charles E. Holeman Foundation on Morgellons, Dr. Middelveen from Canada and the F1000 doctors "magazine", actually Morgellons was the 2nd most read subject.  So, any doubts this is real, or think

this is "delusional" well, it's not, and people need to read and become educated because "this is real" and real people are becoming infected, ill and dying.

Expertise

Will accept most questions in general entomology, including those related to medical entomology, taxonomy, ecology, arthropod surveillance, and pest management. If you are requesting a 'mystery bug' identification, PLEASE either attach an image to your question, or post an image on a web page (such as Flickr) so that I can look at it, as verbal descriptions frequently are insufficient for a definitive identification.

Experience

21 years in the U.S. Army as a medical entomologist; duties varied from surveillance of pest populations (including mosquitoes, cockroaches, ticks, and stored products pests) to conducting research on mosquito-virus ecological relationships and mosquito faunal studies. Ten years as a civilian analyst for the Department of Defense, primarily on distribution of vector-borne diseases worldwide. Limited experience on surveillance of agricultural insects in North Dakota and Indiana.
