We have lots of box elder bugs in our house.  I put a couple on top of a hot wood stove until they were nicely browned and I tasted them....quite good.  I assume they have no poisons in them, but I have no idea really.

I was wondering the same thing. 'if you can't beat em, Eat em.' eh?  Like dandelions .  I you handle them you may notice they excrete a strong odor, which can indicate foul taste but seldom deadly poison .You tube has a bunch of vids of folks eating/cooking stink bugs which probably excrete something similar yet stronger than boxelder bugs.

Try a tiny portion and wait a few hours. If you're not ill ,go for it.  You're braver than I.

I had one drop on our wood stove and get crispy, so I decided to eat it.  It reminded me of fried chicken fat.  Kinda yummy.
