Environmental Science - how do i monitor criteria pollutants?

Expert: Fraser Hamilton - 6/1/2008

Question
kinly lend me your assistance on how to go about monitoring the air quality in a location using air monitors. i would want       to know the standard hourly monitoring guideline ie is it 4-hr    for 7 days or 7-hours for 3 days? thanks!

Answer
Uchenna:
Guidelines int he USA are set by OSHA and the EPA (govt agencies that are supposed to protect worker health and safety and the environment).  I do not know where you are in the world and if there are any regulatory standards.
That said, typically, you would want ot sample for at different periods over the course of a week to get a good sample of the air quality over time.  You will want more samples during busy times, but also samples overngiht, etc.
Not sure this helps much, but without more information about what you are trying to document it is difficult.
