Environmental Science - Global Warming and Teenagers

Expert: Allan Yeomans - 10/18/2009

Question
Dear Environmental Expert,
I am doing research for my High School Honors Science class. We were instructed to ask an expert what teenagers can do to help save the environment. My generation is very concerned about the perils of the future if we don't step up now. What can we do for our community? Do we need special talents, or are there special fields of studies that we should pursue? Thank you very much for taking my question. I appreciate your time.
Jon M.

Answer
Your generation should be concerned. You are going to have to live with the mess we are creating. Go to my web site yeomansplow.com.au and go to the global warming part. Your answers are all there. Scroll down to near the bottom to get BORN AFTER 1975 and click on there.

Your biggest problem is that the fossil fuel companies and countries want to continue selling their products, just like the cigarette companies do.

In a nut shell to fix things you need to stop believing the fiction about rainforests. On global warming issues I liken rainforests to trash bags that are already full to bursting. (they also smell the same). If rainforests have been sequestering carbon dioxide, like they want you to believe, then where is this several thousand years of accumulated carbon? It should be feet deep on the floor of the forest. But it’s not.

The hype is so we don’t clear them and grow organic sugar cane for ethanol. Because that would put the oil people out of business.

Likewise nuclear energy is incredibly safe and cheap. But you are all conditioned to believe the opposite.

Don’t believe anything about global warming issues and environmental issues unless you do a rough check on the figures, and then, and only then make up your own mind. If you want to have a decent world, then get that message out.

Global warming is very very close to complete irreversibility.
