AboutAllan Yeomans Expertise I maintain that it is practical and economical to end global warming and completely halt climate change. By necessarily must include the elimination of our use of fossil fuels. The science on these issues is often deliberately distorted for marketing reasons. I can answer most questions on the science and mathematics of global warming. I can answer the questions on what we must do to restore climate and weather stability.

Question I've been trying to calculate my carbon footprint using this website: http://www.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.aspx and I'm a little bit confused. When I'm calculating carbon emission from the car, I have to enter the mileage information. Is the info I enter the total distance I drive in one year or in one day? Also, in the home tab, for electricity, it is the total energy I use in one year?
I'm also wondering whether there is a website that provides information like: planting one tree can reduce (a certain about of) CO2 in the atmosphere, turning the computer on 5 hours will emit ... grams of carbon, or one A4 paper is from the cutting down of (how many) trees. I know that there's no exact value on these things, but I'm trying to raise the concern about climate chagne in my school and it would be great if it gives a rough idea to the students how they contribute the green house gases emission. Thanks you very much.
Answer Don’t bother calculating your, so called “carbon foot print” It’s a total waste of time and won’t have any effect on our galloping catastrophic climate change.
Global warming can all finish if we stop using fossil carbon based materials for energy. And that is surprisingly easy. We simply switch to biofuel for transport and nuclear energy for power, maybe with a little help from solar, wind and hydro. Then we increase the fertility of the world’s agricultural soils by 1.6 percentage points and that will remove all the CO2 excess currently in the air, in say five years.
But the oil, coal and gas industries and countries don’t want you do understand just how easy it is. Go to my web site yeomansplow.com.au . It’s all there. Read my book PRIORITY ONE Together We Can Beat Global Warming. It’s free to down load from my site.
As to trees; you need to grow about three quarters of a hectare of new trees on some treeless land to absorb the CO2 emissions from one car over each twenty year period. That land is then full. So for the next twenty years you need another three quarters of a hectare.
The next generation would then have to live on canned food as there would be no land left on Earth for agriculture.
That’s right it’s stupid.
Do the arithmetic yourself. It’s not difficult. Global warming will end when you young people realize how much money is spent to keep global warming happening. And then you do something about it.
