Question C4H9OH + 7H2O = 4CO2 + 12H2
under what conditions does the foll reaction take place?
I searched and searched for this answer but i was unable to find it.(of course i thought of it). i would like to have your expertise on this reaction
Answer I don't quite know myself. I can speculate that the temperature would be somewhere near the flaspoint of Butanol which is 373 C. At that point butanol will spontaneously burst into flame, but that's in an oxygen atmosphere. If you put the butanol and the water vapor under pressure without O2, the answer will be much higher.
