AboutJoseph DeMartino Expertise I am an epileptic for 43 yrs.my seizures began when I was a 7yr.old
child.they disappeared for approx.21yrs.they reappeared when I was 28.
no outward cause for the return.in 1992 I had surgery on my left temporal lobe and again in `93.they lessened but I still had them. I now take dilantin and trileptal.seizures are partial ly controlled. I am well versed in the subject.
Question Does anybody have any ideas for me? I have had nocturnal seizures for several years now. i am currently on Topamax, which has controlled my seizures the best of any meds., but I have had two seizures this year. One yest. morning. My doctor doesnt want to up my dosage or change anything, where do I go from here?
Answer hi carissa,
don't complain too much alot of us out here are much worse than that.i know i must have 60 or 70 a yr. at least, probably more.
the only thing that i can think of would be a second drug such as dilantin though i would think the dr. does'nt want to mess with the blood levels that he's getting back.don't worry so.especially since the seizures are nocturnal.you may not have them totally controlled ever.so what.you learn to live with them.believe it or not it isn;t the end of the world.
be well
Joe
