Question
QUESTION: hi, what is the difference between a 24 hr. eeg and a video monitoring something or other, not sure of the name  which last 3 or 4 days .

ANSWER: Tami,
Sorry this took so long but we had a hurricane to deal with plus no power.
24 hour EEG is usually the same as EEG & a video monitoring except you can do it with or without the video according to the patient's needs.

QUESTION: Can a 24 hour EEG be done out of the hospital? Is the 24 hour EEG as conclusive as that EEG with the monitoring?

Answer
Yes, a 24 hour EEG can be done at home but it will not have video and the patient's medications cannot be reduced.  It is usually more accurate if the medication can be reduced, but that must be under hospital conditions, and video also can be helpful at times.
This all depends upon the patient's individual situation.
