Actually, there are Deists who identify as Christian, and these tend to NOT believe that God put creation into motion and then stepped back from it. The two terms are not necessarily exclusive of one another, though Christian Deists will regard Jesus as a man, a good teacher to be emulated, not as God or THE son of God. That and other factors may make a full Episcopal-Deist "fusion" difficult.
