What is the origin of word "quality"?

    The word 'quality' appears in English in the 14th Century.  It stems from the Latin word 'qualitatem' said to be coined by Cicero ( borrowed  from Greek) The Latin root is 'qualis' meaning 'of what sort' or 'who'.
