What is the origin of the word lickety-split?  I know it refers to moving quickly,
but just wondered what the earlier reference might be.

   Usu. prefixed to another word, as lickety-split, at full speed; headlong. Also (nonce-wd.) as v. Also lickety-cut, -smash, -wallop, etc.
