Question over the past few months, most e-mails i have received from a .mil address (army.mil, navy.mil, etc.) do not come through as they are sent. all i can see is a .ems attachment in the body of the incoming message where the actual message should be. my IT folks don't know why. any ideas?
Answer The message is signed using a PGP key for encryption. Most default installations of Eudora should allow you to simply click on the attachment and be prompted for your private key pass phrase to decrypt (if the message was encrypted), after which the text of the message will be displayed inline.
If this doesn't work, try opening the attachment through Eudora's File menu. On Windows, choose Open File then locate the actual file in your attachments folder; on a Macintosh, click once on the attachment to highlight it, then choose Open Selection.
If this still fails, you'll need to determine which version of Eudora you are running and how your machine is configured to handle various file extensions such as *.ems.
