Question I have used Outlook for many years. My current employer uses Eudora . . . I miss Outlook, mostly because of the calendar feature (sharing calendars & beep/pop-up reminders). We all have the Office suite, so using Outlook is an option. What I need to know is, is Eudora safer from viruses, trojans, etc.?

Eudora is sure less prone to worms and viruses as there are not mcuh viruses written by keeping eudora in mind. Outlook has more presence so naturally more people are attracted towards creating malicious software for outlook. You can use outlook for your personal organization needs and Eudora for Emails.
