Question Thanks Lorry,
Before this happened (question marks in the status column) I got three messages (one on top of the other) saying that Eudora had performed an illegal operation and was closing. One of the messages referred to a problem in the file SpamWatch.dll (I don't remember the others). I don't have a paid-for version of Eudora so I don't even have the SpamWatch capability. What do you think happened? Should I be re-loading or repairing my Eudora software?

Hi Lorry,
I'm running Eudora Light 6.0.1.1.
It came up today with the notice that one of my mailboxes was corrupted and asked if I wanted it repaired. I checked "Yes," and it did what it had to do. Now there are question marks in the status column of some of my messages. What does that mean?

Hi Gilbert,
When a mailbox Table of Contents (TOC) becomes corrupted, Eudora will rebuild it based on the messages it sees in the Mailbox file. The status of messages, whether they have been read, replied to, forwarded, redirected, is kept in the TOC. For the messages where Eudora lost this information and couldn't recover it, it places the ? in the status column.
This program has preformed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
Symptom: Eudora displays the error message shown above. When you select the Details button, "Eudora caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL..." is displayed.
Solution: Exit Eudora. Make a backup copy of the eudora.ini file. Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, edit the eudora.ini file in your Eudora mailbox directory. Delete all of the sections except [Settings], [Mappings], [Personalities], [Persona-xxx], [Dialup], [Debug], and [Directory Services]. Save this file and restart Eudora.
