Excel - Transposing Non-contiguous Cells

Expert: Nathan Head - 2/22/2008

Question
Hi Nathan!
I was wondering if there was any way (via formula or VBA) to transpose the contents of non-contiguous cells.  For example, suppose I want to transpose the contents of cells A1, C1, E1, G1, I1 from worksheet 1 to A1:A5 on worksheet 2.  Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Jeff

Answer
Jeff:

Follow these steps and this should work for you - if not, please let me know because it means I misinterpreted your question :).

1) Holding down the CTRL key on your keyboard select cell A1, C1, E1, G1, and I1 on worksheet 1.  This allows you to select non-contiguous cells.
2) Select copy.
3) Go to worksheet 2 and select cell A1:
4) Click edit->paste special->choose "values" and "transpose" (if you have Excel 2007 this option is on the Home Ribbon under paste).
5) Cell A1 through A5 should now be filled with the values copied earlier...all together, no spaces.

Enjoy!
