Excel/Transpose
Expert: Tom Ogilvy - 4/11/2008
QuestionHello,
I have data in a column format. More specifically (6) fields vertically stacked, then a space than another (6) fields, space, and so one......
Example:
David Sharff Architect
67 West St.
Medfield, MA
508-359-5737
www.davidsharffarchitect.com
Great architect
I have quite a few. To get them into a row format, I have to highlight and copy from one sheet and then "paste special" in another sheet. I select the "transpose" option in the "paste special", and they copy over in row format. Which is what I'm looking for.
The only problem is I can only copy one contact at a time to transpose it. Very tedious with number of contacts I still have to do.
Is there a process by which I could do this a little more efficiently?
AnswerI could show you some formulas to do it on another sheet in the same workbook. (this won't do the formats, but I would guess that isn't a consideration)
Send me a workbook with about 30 rows of data and I can put the formulas in the workbook for you. Then it is just a matter of extending them down the columns to get all your data. This assumes all sections are 6 rows with 1 blank row in between (as you described).
