Excel/Password protect cell editing
Expert: Adelaide carvalho - 11/7/2009
QuestionHello Adelaide! :)
Please look at this post before trying to answer my question.
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Excel-1059/2008/2/Cell-protection-password.htm
It is about a small library excel file.
I understood what was written in that post but what I would like is that the people coming into the library to see the file but not to be able to edit anything without the password.
Is that possible in any way?
Thank you in advance! :)
Thorsten
AnswerHi Thorsten
How are you?
Yes it is possible. Please see the following for Excel 2007. But similar way for Excel 2003
1.Select the range you want to protect
2.Format/ Worksheet protection
3. Type the password
4. retype the password
5. Save the file
6. close it
7. re/open
8. you can see the file but not edit it.
Cheers
Adelaide
