Excel - comment boxes disapearing in excel

Hello,
I am working on a very large spreadsheets with a large number of comment boxes in Excel 97. The issue I am having is some of the comment boxes are disappearing unexpectedly. This appears to be an on going issue with the large spreadsheets.
any ideas?

Answer
comments are generally a nuisance - they probably won't have disappeared, but they will have drifted far away from the cells they are supposed to be commenting
