Excel/If Statement


I have 4 columns of Golf score totals on Row 20. Column B totals 43, Column C totals 41, Column D totals 60, and Column E totals 21.   In Row 21, I am to show "1" for the winner's column and "0" for the other columns.

Row 21 should end up looking like this, B=0, C=0, D=0 and the winner, the lowest score for golf, E=1.  I have tried Min with If statements but to no avail.  Help!

If you've got 4 values in Row 1 (A1,B1,C1,D1):


Then in cell E1 use the MIN function:


That will give you the lowest value of those cells, in this case 2.

Now in Row 2 you can use a simple equality to determine who the winner is. In A2 put:


Now AutoFill that across to column D. You'll get:


And now you can see who the winner is. You COULD use an IF function to get 1 or 0, but why bother? I cover all of this in my tutorials.
