# Excel/ISnumber combined with SEARCH

Question
Using Excel 2007 & need help with subject.  In column F I have possibility of five different product size names combined with other text.  If product size is "A", I need to multiply the qty in column G by a specific factor.  If product size is size "B", I need to mtuliply the qty in column G by a DIFFERENT specific factor and on & on for several sizes.  I was trying to use ISNUMBER and SEARCH together, but can't figure out how to continue the formula to search for the five different product sizes.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Jodie,

=IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("A",F2)),G2*100,"")

is your basic construct.  If you want to nest it then

Put this in row 2 to refer to F2 and G2, then drag fill down.  It worked for me if I understand the situation correctly.

=IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("A",F2)),G2*100,IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("B",F2)),G2*200,IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("C",F2)),G2*300,IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("D",F2)),G2*400,IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("E",F2)),G2*500,"-")))))

Note that Search is not case sensitive.
