Question
Hi,

Could you kindly assist me on the below.

1. How to protect certain Rows or columns in excel with password.
For ex: I want to protect entire "C" column, once i protected other user should not able to edit and the same way it should be untouchable for the other user.
In addition all the formula has to work in the protected rows and columns.

2. How to swap the text in excel.

  For ex:
I want " David Antony" to be "Antony David".

I am using 2007 excel version.

Regards
Ravi

Answer
1) How to protect on column only

By default, all cells on a sheet have the [x] Locked paramater set, so if you protect the sheet, no cells would be editable.

- Highlight all the columns you're using
- Press CTRL-1 to open the Format Cells window
- Click on Protection and uncheck the [x] Locked box
- Click OK to save those changes
- Highlight just column C
- Press CTRL-1 to open the Format Cells window again
- Put a check back in the [x] Loccked box
- Click OK to save those changes
- Now turn on Protection on this sheet and only column C will be uneditable

2) If cell A1 had the name "Antony David", this formula in B1 would swap those two words:

=TRIM(MID(SUBSTITUTE(A1," ",REPT(" ",30))&" "&SUBSTITUTE(A1," ",REPT(" ", 30)),30,30+LEN(A1)))
