Excel/VLookUp with wildcard
Excel 2007 VBA
Is it possible to do a vlookup using a wildcard (*)?
Here's what I have in mind:
Say the matchup value in the lookup table is ABC123*
Can the vlookup formula be tweaked to match that value up with ABC123x, ABC123xy, ABC123xyz, etc. in the receiving file ?
Basically Yes it can be used with a wildcard as I show below:
so for example, this worked for me:
where C:D looked like
Col C Col D
It returned 3.
Now it isn't going to return values from multiple lines in the same table if that is what you were actually asking.
