Excel/USING EXCEL TEMPLATES
I am downloading ASCII files. I have created an Excel Template that is formatted with the specifications of the ASCII files.
Is it possible to convert previously saved excel spreadsheets to the template layout, and is it possible to use the template to open new files that are saved as text so they are imported into excel in the saved format??
I want to say "yes", but the phrases you're using are confusing.
1) Can you import ASCII files into Excel?
Yes, you can import any text file into Excel.
2) Can you save a spreadsheet that has been created after importing an ASCII file into it?
Yes, you should be able to save any Excel sheet you have open no matter how the data gets into the sheet.
3) Converting an Excel sheet to an ASCII layout?
This doesn't make sense to me.
4) Convert existing saved sheets into a template layout?
Maybe. This too can be confusing based on what you really mean by #3.
IN a nutshell, anything you can do by hand can be automated to do itself.
