# Excel/Summation of values in columns

Question
Please tell me a range based formula to substitute the following :

A1+G1+N1+U1+AB1+AI1+AP1 and to put this in the cell AW1.
The range of values is A1:AU1

Repeating : I want to sum values in every 7th column using a range instead of manual SUM as shown above.

You can use the MOD function to identify the columns for every 7th value.

=MOD(A1:AU1, 7) = 0

That will collect all the values except for A1 which is NOT in one the 7th columns, that column must be added manually.  The result in AW1 would be:

=A1 + SUMPRODUCT(--(MOD(COLUMN(A1:AU1),7)=0),A1:AU1)
