Question Dear Sirs,
We are a British company with factories in China (joint ventures were we are majority owners)selling globally.
When deliving our customers all administarion is done by us here in the UK, meaning customers send purchase orders to us, we send the manufactured goods from our factories in China, and finally invoice them from the UK.
Our customer in Thailand claim that they cannot benefint from the ASEAN free trade agreement (giving them lower import duty) using "Form E" as long as we do the admin from the UK. They claim they must deal direct with our Chinese factories. Is that really correct? Our Chinese factories dont even have the facilities to do admin internationally.

Answer Hi Johan,
ASEAN(Association of Southeast Asian Nations) sets a lower import duty for their members for a lot of goods. Thailand and China are their member. So if your product is in this list and your business is between them that your client could try get lower import duty.
As you have factory in China that you could use your factory name and license to do this exporting business with them to let them get lower tax rate.
But if your factory don't know how to do the procedures, you could ask them to hire an exporting agent to complete it.
