Expressing Yourself to Others - how to ask a girl out

Expert: Adrienne - 11/11/2006

Question
theres this one girl who i like and she likes me. i've never been in a relationship before and i was hoping that she would be my first girlfriend. i'm a bit confused on how we become officially in a relationship. how do i ask her to be my girlfriend? do i just straight up ask her "do you want to be my girlfriend?" or what? she goes to another school, so it probably has to be over the phone, what would i say? how do i make this work?

Answer
The best way to ask a girl to be your girlfriend is to ask her out first. Ask her to go to a movie, or a dinner, or to just plain hang out just the two of you. After a while, it will be pretty much official she is your girlfriend. But she cannot be your girlfriend until you actually make the first move and ask her out. But be confident: if she likes you, there is no way she'll say anything but YES! good luck  =]
