Question
I have been diagnosed with open angle glaucoma in 2006.  I'm currently on Lumigan 1x daily (0.03%) and Alphagan P 2x daily (.15%)since 2006.
My question is this:  I started having a rash on my neck area and also underneath both breasts.  It's red in color and rough to the touch only before I put lotion on it.  I've had this for 2 1/2 weeks now and it's not going away, but not getting any worse.  I called the pharmacist and he said not possible that it's from the medication.  I'm unsure of what to do, my doctor is away currently.  Do I stop this medication?  Could it be a build up of the medication over time?  Also, I've had ringing in my ears since I've started this in 2006.....is this also from the medication?  Other then the glaucoma, I'm fairly healthy and excercise 1 hour each day without hesitation.  I take no other medication and only multiple vitamin, and calcium with vitamin D and 400mg of vitamin e and I've done this all my life without issues.  Can you offer any advise?

Answer
Hi Debbie,
This rash sounds like a fungal/candida rash. You might get relief from over the counter antifungals. Ringing in the ears is not a know side effect of either of these drugs. I would question your doctor about the ringing when he or she gets back.
