Question I stopped taking the pill 6 months ago and over the past few months have developed acne on my face, mostly around my jaw line and lower cheeks. (I've been on serval types of low dose pills throughout the years). Some of the bumps are quite painful. I recently got an IUD (Mirena) so starting the pill again is not an option. I'm 30 years old and am beginning to feel very self conscious about it. What can I do?"
Answer You could go on birth control pills if you had to for the acne, but... first, I would do standard acne like treatment, such as going on some antibiotics like doxicycline for a week or two. If you have some cystic acne, that tends to build on itself so you may need a longer course. BCP's can increase or decrease acne, but I would simply treat the acne first..... hope this helps
