Subject: Getting Pregnant on The Pill

Question
Hello, i was wondering what happens scientifically if a woman misses about 2 birth control pills and gets pregnant but since she do not know, she keeps taking the pill.  1. would taking the pill give a false negative in urine test? 2. is it dangerous to the baby? 3. how would you know u are pregnant? its even possible to take a whole month worth pack and even get a light bleeding between the packs. the effects of the pills is similar to pregnancy, so if you got pregnant on the pill, how would u know?

Answer
Hi Ayelet,
If you miss the pill, you can ovulate and potentially become pregnant in a 24 hour period. If you don't know you are preganant and continue the pill, it is possible to do harm to the fetus. Your body starts to produce a hormone that only shows up during pregnancy so it will show a positive test even if you still take the pill.
