Question Hello,
First of all thank-you for your participation on "Allexperts" and any knowledge you may have regarding neck pains in the elderly. If I don't qualify under your question criteria I apologize.
My Father is 86 years old and one tough customer, in terms of overall health. He has recently with-in the last 6 months been experiencing severe neck pains and he has been to a "Chiropractor" with little success. We his family are also a bit concerned with all the pulling and stretching of the neck area at his age anyway. But hey, what do I know?...I know nothing.
Is there anything that you could do or suggest to perhaps enlighten us in this area? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards, Mr. Stroud
Answer when an elderly patient gets joint pain but previously had none, I always worry about another process like a cancer causing it.... he should see a regular doc and get xrays of the neck or further evaluation..... nothing wrong with chiros but if he is 86 and tough and now has severe neck pain, he should be fully evaluated.
