Subject: cystocele

Question
can a stage 1 cystocele be reversed.  Do exercises help and kegels? age 72, three major ops. bp 98/62  low cholesterol. 15lb. overweight. Don't want surgery.

Answer
Hi Dona,
At this point in your life, there is not much left of pelvic muscle that will be aided by kagel’s. I don’t think it would hurt but I wouldn’t expcect much. If you still have a uterus, a pessary may help. Otherwise, surgery is the only choice if this cyctocele is very symptomatic. If it more a nuisance, then wearing pads might suffice.
