Question
Hi.
My name is Wilson. I noticed an odd symptom about four days ago. I was recently prescribed the antibiotic doxycycline. I stopped taking the drug after my tests results came back negative and symptoms went away. I took one last pill before I went to bed one night. I woke the next morning with a heartburn feeling. I bought some tums but they really didnt help. I went to bed, woke up, the burn was gone but went I ate food I noticed a pain in my chest almost like the food on the way down was passing over something. This pain has been going on for three days now. I can also start to feel it when not eating. Lots of people getting sick where I work but none with this kind of symptom. I can even feel it when i take a breath. Its almost dead center behind my chest. Any ideas?
Thanks

Answer
that is a classic problem with doxi.... if you don't wash that pill down into the stomach with a full glass of something, it can stick and open in the esophagus and burn that tissue.... too late now, but do that in the future.

Now for this.... the burn has to heal.... take Zantac 150 twice a day until symptoms completely gone and get Gaviscon chew tablets and take 1-2 every few hours if you have symptoms.

Hope this helps.....
