Family, Internal Medicine, General Medical Questions - swelling

Expert: Robert Borucki - 10/22/2009

Question
i awoke this morn to find that my face from the side of my nose all under my eye down my check is swollen. is this a concern?

Answer
it can be if you compressed that area while sleeping, and it would go away in an hour.

It can be from a sinus infection or a dental infection if it persists... that should be treated with antibiotics.

It can also be an allergic reaction.... an insect bite, or a reaction to a medication... common one is an ACE inhibitor BP medicine.

Hope this helps
